Overview
The original PHP-based system required manual file copying and editing for each new job posting, leading to inefficiencies and layout issues. Additionally, the absence of a firewall and proper access controls meant that applicant data was stored insecurely on the server. Our solution involved redesigning the website on WordPress with a custom theme, simplifying job management, and securing sensitive data.
Approach
Understanding File Structure
Conducted a thorough assessment of the existing PHP files to understand functionality and data structures. Developed a migration plan to seamlessly transfer functionalities into WordPress while ensuring compatibility and scalability.
Platform Migration:
We transitioned the website from vanilla PHP to WordPress, allowing for easier content management and reducing the time required to post new jobs.
Custom WordPress Theme Development
Designed and developed a custom WordPress theme aligned with McDonald’s branding and functional requirements. This involved creating templates, custom post types, and fields to replicate and enhance the existing functionalities.
Security Implementation:
We integrated a firewall, access controls, and other security measures to protect applicant data and ensure that only authorized personnel could access sensitive information
Data Retention Policy:
A retention policy was established to ensure that applicant data was securely transferred to a centralized HR repository and retained on the server for only seven days.
